Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the tragedy, public personalities expressed different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive claims that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and implied they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an adviser should have acted when the choice to comment on the death was made.
