19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He rescued four early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
