Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Cockpit Window
An aircraft ferrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which verified that Hegseth was safe.
"The jet touched down following standard procedures and everyone onboard, such as Pete Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson said in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the city of Brussels during the flight.
This incident is not the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet carrying a high-ranking official has encountered mechanical issues.
Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was forced to return to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical problem.
