In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Revealed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret group.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Material

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an special katana alongside several artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe

Third Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
